I've created an experimental profile for Plex Media Server (DLNA) to use with GTVBox as a client.
It should help to support some movies not supported natively by GTV.
Remember, that you can even use it with Logitech Revue which do not support transcoding on Plex own native app. :-)

Works with GTVBox v.0.7+.

Download here http://player.gtvbox.net/support/pms

This is experimental! And depends greatly on what Plex guys do with their server. :-)
This may or may not work.

Help on external SRT - not working

Post by mpabbott »

Hi there. I just bought GTVBox but couldn't load the SRT external subtitles. My SRT files are located in the proper movie folders, lower case, subtitle chart selected to support my language (portuguese) - ISO8859-1 (have also tried UFT-8). I'm using Twonky, but tried several others. I hit "S" and nothing happens. I don't know what to do.

All movies display "Subtitle: Disabled" with no options. I played one MKV video and could enable the subtitles, but to all remaining formats, it doesn't work.

Please help!

Thanks! :)

Search function is broken so posting a question and hope it hasn't been asked before.

How do I set up an SMB if I have my HD hooked up to my router. I have a netgear wndr4000 and have been trying to get it working all day.

What version of Twonky do you have?
Other DLNA servers do not stream SRT. I recommend using smb.

Are you able to see the share from your PC?

If you have an URL, launch GTVBox and press L button to enter URL.

Couple of serious improvements in playback engine will be introduced in the next version:
- On-fly FOURCC fixing for AVI files. There is a problem on Google TV with some AVI files that contain DivX5/6 video. GTV media engine do not like DX50 and DIVX FOURCC codes. So, GTVBox will change them to XVID. This can fix some of your "broken" AVI files.
- Improved MKV extended parser. Sony users noticed that if you skip forward over your MKV, internal subtitles do not display. So, this will be fixed. Also, this parser should be more stable overall and it creates possibility for future SUB/IDX support in GTVBox.

Testers are welcome.

I'm using Twonky 7.0. Any ideas of what is happening?

Two possibilities:
1. Twonky do not provide subtitles for some reason.
2. You have an exotic encoding.

Try to play from a local usb storage to test your subs.
