Gmail app disappears?

The gmail app appears to have vanished from my revue running 3.1....the apk is not in /system/app....attempting to install an ics gmail fails with a Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK] error via adb and a "honeycomb" version gave same error. The gingerbread 2.3.x version installs but crashes when you run it.....

There never was a gmail app.

Well all I can tell you is I had one sideloaded and working...and it vanished.....I've replaced it with K9mail.

You can also download AquaMail from the market, no side load required. I used K9mail for months, but replaced it with AquaMail.
