I can’t complete the root on my Revue. Please help!

I recently purchased the Revue bundle from Best Buy. New, out of the box, I soldered on pins to the UART. Once I received my USB to TTL I followed the steps to get root. I make it as far as the recovery screen every time and then I'm stuck. I can see all the output on Putty but I never get the # sign and the ability to enter commands. Am I doing something wrong? I've tried numerous times and even had people watch me and go through the steps to see if I am missing something.

Is there anything I can do? I'm a step away from doing the software part of the root and don't want to give up now. However if I can't figure out something soon I may just allow it to update to 3.1 and forget about it.

To be honest, I waited for the update, now i wish i can go back, and be able to play with it. it is very restricted with the official update. I am not sure about the hardware root, didnt know about it when i bought mine.
