Do apps have access to Video in on GTV?

Hello,
I am looking at making an app for Google TV (and very new to this), but I am wondering if there are currently any ways of getting access to the video input to Google TV. Ideally I am trying to get direct access so that I can handle displaying TV and what not through the app... Much like my own "Live TV" app.

Does anyone know if this capability currently exists in API's or anything?

Thanks for the help

No. You cannot access HDMI-in video stream as it may contain protected content.

You could make use of the Picture in Picture-feature...?

No i was more thinking DVR or sling box like functionality for the one app. The problem is that from what i was looking at using it seems to be an encrypted stream from the cable box to the tv. and the only way to mitm it would be to used the reverse engineered HDCP master keys and do hardware level hacking.

The one hope I had was to look into using HD Component cables to hookup the cable box. But this will most likly not work since its not a normal cable hookup (analog to digital) but HDMI to HD component do exist.

The other thing i wonder about is the TV's embedded with Google TV. I am guessing they are just bolting in a board for google TV and not integrating it on a hardware at any high level, But it would be interesting to see if they had a better chance at getting access to the video source after it is decryption.

The problem with all of these methods is you must have root and might even need to make a custom rom. Lets hope they unlock the boot loader, and some one discovers its easy to flash new encryption keys to the Revue :P

yea that is using a box that is ment to be a DVR i was talking about making the GTV a DVR/SlingBox so it would save TV shows to a USB hard drive or over onto a NAS. Your Cable/SAT DVR works because it is the device that is doing the Decryption and encryption. GoogleTV will act as a pass through and i am guessing do an overlay ontop of the Cable signal with its UI.
What i wanted to try and do was have Google TV become DVR, not have it integrate with one.
