would it be possible to use one of those boxes that converts coaxial into HDMI and then plug that box into the revue to watch live tv?

Have you had a look at the HDFury? Not cheap but works with the Revue.

You can do what I did. I just bought a used Tivo HD and use that as the tuner. It takes coxial and has HDMI output. You can buy them cheap on craiglist. I payed like $40 for mine. You might need to get a M-Card (CableCard) from your cable provider for use in the Tivo.

I cancelled sat and cable. We use this to get our ant. signal into the review. It is also a DVR! Should be able to find for just under $300. Very happy with the setup. Revue controller works with unit.
