kbd vs adb

Post by mistmarez »

I have been reviewing the steps to use the NTFS to install custom recovery.

I can easily plug in a keyboard, and a usb stick to the sony.
I can easily transfer files using ubuntu to the sticks on my desk computer. Then plug them into the sony, etc.

after creating the NTFS drive the guide states:
"...Unmount the drive, and insert it into your Google TV.
Connect via adb, and issue the shell command."

Is the use of a usb keyboard on the sony an option instead of adb? That would be so much easier to execute. Are there alternatives to adb, like dumb terminal or something?

I would need to install sdk/adb. I think android-sdk_r22.0.5-linux.tgz might not be appropriate for my 11.04 Natty. Does someone know if the sdk installer will run in 11.04? "apt get update" usually just causes dead silence since Ubuntu dropped Natty support last year.

Thanks

I did get the SDK installed on my 11.04 ubuntu using this tgz file above.
