As far as the codes, try different formats for your model. My avr is a VSX-01TXH, if i just put the vsx in it lists model starting at vsx101. Thought I was screwed but I tried vsx-, no good. Then I just put the zero in, vsx0, and mine was the first listed. They don't 'search' as well as other gtv's.

After completing root, I still received a message saying I have an update ready. I tried the steps to get rid of the zip file in the cd /cache but I can't access it. Could you give me exact instructions on how to get rid of this so I don't accidently update my box?

I've been learning a little more about adb and learned how to get directories. I checked out /cache and that zip file was not in there. Why would I be getting a notification if I ran the script to root and disable?

If you did all the steps it won't be able to update. It will still show the update but cant actually update.

Should i just buy another Pulse if i let the update go through without rooting?

Or is the hardware root method still a working method?

If so whats is the hardware rooting process? Can i just solder serial adapter connection to my pulse and move from there?

I had the same thing happen.. While rooting the box automatically downloaded the update so when I rebooted it prompted to update.

To fix that sideload an applications like 'Autostarts'. Then look for 'Google Services Framework' under there you will see several things, find the one that says 'SystemUpdateService$Receiver' and deselect it. Then clear the notification and reboot. After that you should be good to go. If you want to delete the downloaded file use a root browser go to cache and delete it.

So my best option is to shelf this one and buy one another?

ok here it seem that i rooted correctly but left for few hours and return to find out it updated the patch. Was there a auto push or did something happen without me knowing so seem im wasnt rooted correctly since i thought after root it cant be updated. any thoughts? TIA

Did it simply download the update and is now prompting you to apply it when you restart? If so then your still ok. I don't believe this box applies the update until you give it the ok (unlike the revue). If the new version has been installed you are out of luck.

Some how it updated... wonder if it was downloaded as I was rooting and not realize hit update or by reboot. I'm getting another unit anyway cus I was planning to give one away. So when I root the new one how do I verify its rooted and will not update or download patch? Thanks for reply.
