I am now testing 38Gb Avatar.mkv. When playing with "cache block" size, I was able to stream it pretty good.
It also has NINE subtitle tracks which are parsed in parallel thread.
I think, I will put Cache Size option in preferences, that users could play with to make their movies play fine.

Anyways, thanks for making me think about this problem.


PS: I have a crazy idea of rewriting libdca (VLC DTS library) in Java. But not sure it will work fast enough for on-fly decoding...[/quote]

BTW I've been playing some more with UPNPlay and GTVBox, I've noticed a couple things.

1) generally the length of the video is being report incorrectly, usually very short, but the video plays fine.
2) on the revue I can't change the audio track? or does it just refuse to change to an audiotrack that can't be played?

1. Can not say anything here. Sorry.
2. It will only switch between compatible tracks. So, If you have DTS, it will be skipped.

Hello i have install the new version coming from the free version, but the new one takes too long to fast forward a video, and i only play 720p files

It is common problem with Logitech Revue and MKV files.

IMPORTANT info for testers!

New version v.0.27 has basic support for MKV subtitles. You should enable "MKV extended supoort" feature in settings. Please, test on your files. Only, SRT (basic text) and SSA (only text without slyle and positions) are supported for now.
Avaliable both on Dropbox and Market (while I do not advertise it now).

To switch subtitle tracks press S. Forced subtitles are automatically enabled at playback start.

Also, caching is improved. Should be more stable and fast.

Tested it today, this is brilliant. Subtitles are working on most of the mkv files I fed my Sony GTV. With thumbnails, online subtitles and Resume playback, this will be invincible.

Online subtitles would be the next step. Already registered opensubtitles.org id.

MKV subtitles have a limitation now. They are not seekable. It's not a problem for Logitech, that has broken seek. But note for sony users: if you seek forward for a large amount of time, subtitles will not display. If a file is not very large (like 2-4Gb), subtitles will soon follow the video. But, if it is large.. well I don't know.

Not sure if this is an app bug or just my source files, but it's still worth mentioning. On v0.26 I noticed the audio and video were out of sync with .avi files but not with .mkv files. I don't recall those files having A/V sync issues before, so I'm wondering if there might be some bugs in the buffering process that only affect .avi files.

First try v0.27, then try to disable caching in app setting. If no help, I dont know.
