I have something together but I need one of you with a UART adapter hooked up to test it (it won't brick your box). Please PM me if you'd like to be the guinea pig.

i have a box with a UART adaptor attached, BUT, I let the box update online to the 3.1 build, and I havent checked if the UART port is still active. Let me know if I might be of help.

Your UART is definitely disabled (any OTA update disables UART).
