Just FYI.

I tried to copying the following directory over to /data/sys/ and then create symalinks.

/system/app
/system/bin
/system/chrome
/system/etc
/system/framework
/system/xbin

Now on boot all I get is a the blue spinning circle. Luckily, I installed the new custom recovery before hand. So hoping re-install the factory ROM and get my box back. :-)

Hi webdude12,
How did you manage to get the custom recovery installed please? I am having no luck whatsoever. I have followed the install guide to the letter and everything seems to go fine with no errors yet I still have no custom recovery mode when I reboot, With or without the USB Drive. Any ideas?. Entering the recovery mode brings up the standard recovery console.

Try booting to recovery using the connect button instead of issuing a adb reboot recovery command. Mine was going to the stock recovery with adb, but went to custom recovery when using the connect button.

Unplug the unit. Press and hold the connect button on the bottom while plugging it back in. Continue holding for 5 seconds, then release.

Hi Guys.
Could anybody possibly let me have a copy of the system.fs file that I could reflash over to me box as I have lost the entire files from my /system dir. All I now have is custom recovery. I can still get to the shell via UART so would be able to flash a fresh copy of the system files back over. All other methods that I can think of to try have now been exhausted. Thanks in advance.

So, the quick way to get your box back without losing the custom recovery:

1) Download this [Google Link] ... 9_URSC.zip

2) Rename it to update.zip

3) Open the zip and delete /system/boot/recovery.img

Copy that update.zip to usb, install via custom recovery. Your system should be fixed, custom recovery should be preserved.

I know this is an old thread but I am trying to root this darn thing and here's where I'm stuck (following GTVhacker Exploiting Key Signing):

Step 5 for non-persistent root - I have a NSZ-GS7

Select "/data/local/tmp/busybox telnetd -p 8899 -l sh" from the drop down menu and click start. If the command execute successfully, you may proceed, if not troubleshoot your connection and try again.

I copied it verbatim and I get some sort of failed file message. just as you think it's gonna work.

I do not know anything about coding or hacking or whatever. I even tried sideloading some files but to no avail. I can't even get adblock plus on chrome.

If anyone is still checking this thread, any help is greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention this happened using Cydia Impactor.
