Switching apps

Did anyone figure out a way to flip through running apps yet (key combination)? The only way i know of is settings/manage apps/running apps....I forget what i was trying to do by the time i go through all that!!!!

Hold home pressed. Same shortcut on all Android devices. (Except Galaxy Nexus I guess)

Surely that is the same as android 3.1 uses multitasking and puts running apps in to the background when requested terminating them once they have no use or certain conditions have been met? So recent apps are a list of potentially running apps from what I understand, although some will have terminated. Unless you are after a process killing style feature?
