No Audio DirectTV HR34?

Picked up one of these for $20 at Walmart but can not get audio to pass-through at all? Any Tips would be great Google searching has not really helped at all.
Setup
HDMI
DirecTV HR34---> GTV100-->Pioneer VSX822 AVR--> Panasonic TV
I tried changing HDMI cables and that had no impact. Also tried turning everything off and ond turning off surround sound on the DirecTV no luck.
