Just Discovered Something

Ok, expecting a Co-Star to show up on my steps any day now. Just discovered something though. I went to look at the HD TV I was planning on hooking it up to and discovered the TV doesn't have any HDMI hookup capability.

So question is, does anyone make a HDMI to component hookup converter?

Frustrated!

Thanks, bookmarked. Now the quest to find out if the Co-Star supports the digital signal conversion output spec.

Maybe someone on here will speak up....

If your TV has no HDMI input, then any solution with just a cable like the one above will downsample everything to 480p (as no HDMI means no HDCP, and thus even if your TV can display High-Def resolution, HDCP devices won't pass that HD signal through). If you are willing to spend a little extra money to get true HD playback from your co-star, you'll want to go with something like the HDFury, as it can do the sanctioned HDCP handshake on behalf of your TV and then pass the true digital signal right on to your component inputs. Of course, the decision as to whether or not that's worth the money would depend a lot on A) what sort of HD content you'll be running natively from the co-star, and B) whether or not you'll be attaching another device to it (like a blu-ray player).

You could also try this:

Also not mentioned, the cable above is only the video, so you would need to find some way to get audio out as well. This box from monoprice does the handshaking, and a lot more affordable.

Thanks guys. Have to do some thinking on this. Don't want to spend too much as the current tv is almost 10 years old.
I figure a couple more years at most for it. It's a Hitachi 50" LCD, early HD tv

Someone just posted on another social network that there is no Google Music, Pandora or anything available on the Co-Star, everything must be side loaded.

I thought I read that Google Music just got an update that makes it compatible with GoogleTV now.
