External Hard Drive Issue

Post by tpaul87 » Tue Nov 11, 2014 7:30 am

My home theater PC that I ran XBMC on quit last week, so I picked up what is my second Sony box. I have two 1TB hdd's with lots of video content I wish to be able to view using the Google box as I was able to with my PC. I've done the research and understand that to access the drive in it's current NTFS format I would have to root the OS, which I'm not a fan of doing as I've read it can be buggy or worse, I brick the Sony. Note, I'm using a hot swap dock that is powered. If some of the files on the drive weren't over 4gb I would just convert and format to FAT32.

My other idea, was to setup a plex server on my office desktop. I'm open to ideas here.

Thanks!

Don't try to root OS if you don't have enough privileges for the same. it may bricked your External HDD.
