Thanks for the reply, hope you get an android device soon to make your app better.

Playing around I have found a way to do what I want, hoping posting it here will help you develop the abilities in your app as I needed to use another app on the store to complete one of my needs, but it doesn't help with my video needs that you app does wonderfully playing files off my local nas.

So you need another app on the google tv called Airtight, with this app I can able to send Music, Playlists, Videos and Pictures from my tablet or smartphone from apps Airsync and Imediashare to the google tv, its still early with playing around with it but it works good so far.

Issues I am having still.

Airsync, Only does videos and music, both work. With Videos I can't rotate it if its playing the wrong way, depends on how I recorded it originally on my phone or tablet tho. And with Music when playing playlist it doesn't switch to the next song automatically needs to be told to, which wrecks it for me.

Imediashare, I only have the light version so I haven't been able to try sending out videos from all their channels, but I would assume it would work, I do find the app slow and freezing up at times. This does pictures, Music and Videos and also supports many more internet channels you can send content from with the paid version. Same issue with pictures and videos no way to rotate them if the were shot or recorded the wrong way. Music playlists due change song when completed which is what I wanted. But with this app if you leave something I can't figure out how to get back to what I'm currently playing without having to restart it.

Also from native android apps, like gallery you can click share select either app, I am having issues with Airsync doing it and Imediashare says you need full version to complete task but again assuming it should work, so you can share within an android app instead of launching the app doing the work but I haven't tested it.

Also if you use this app with the Google TV app you should be able to turn on and adjust the volume on your receiver or tv, then launch the imediashare app select your playlist and you can start playing music all from your tablet no need to do anything to your receiver or tv for setup, from the table you can see what song is playing, change the song with fwd rew and pause commands and then switch apps to google tv which you can also play and pause and control the volume.

I am thinking if you can add these functions into your app it will make it such a better app as it gives you a much wider and stronger ability, not being a developer I don't know whats all involved and know its not easy work but with using different apps all the functions are already there its just putting it all together it that would make it king.

hey mcd2000,
its taken me a long time to get round to playing with your app but I'm soo glad I finally have!(I didn't realise I was being blocked from downloading my purchase due to lack of space, apparently minicraft takes up loads of room :P)

The functionality is very fluid, I went the manual way to add my passworded share and can now see all my content in a responsive manner. I've just installed ThumbGen from your suggestions and I must say the way its presented on the tv is very reminiscent of XBMC(is it a frequently used template style or is it your own work?). The whole app interface is very well thought through and a pleasure to use, something I cant say for Logitechs attempt.

There are three features I would like to request which may well have been requested before. The first being could you include support for IMDb trailers or a quick link to the full IMDb page? This would make the job of deciding which movie to watch as fluid as possible.

The second is at a slight tangent to the video side of the project. Would you be able to include a playlist feature that provides good options for adding content to it? By this I'm referring directly to one of Logitechs failings, their playlists allow you to either select one song or an album but will not let you random all your music.

The final one is probably not in your priorities for a long time, if at all, but I'll add it for completeness. I like to throw house parties and usually allow the guests to make requests. It would be a nice touch to be able to put the tv in to a graphical visualisation mode when not using the music controls, thinking along the lines of milkdrop.

Either way you have done a great job with this app, especially considering its a first attempt. Anyone who has a GTV device should get this and I look forward to seeing this project grow! Congratulations! :)

I'll definetely work with Airsync and IMediaShare apps soon to improve compatibility.

XMBC is an ideal. I'am far from it.
To get IMDB page we should have some tagging information about what movie is it. Filename is not usually enough.
Playlist feature is on the roadmap.
But remember, GTVBox is a Video Player. So, video features are more important for now.

I know XBMC is far from this project, considering the years and years of developement that has gone in to it, I was more interested in how the style sheet was implemented but I now realise its generated as an image by the ThumbGen software.
Regarding the tag issue I'm sure using the google video search functionality can suffice :)

I'm glad to hear the playlist is on the road map, tbh the visualisation part was just me wishing there were more developers making worthwhile apps with functionality that worked as well as yours :P
It still amazes me there haven't been more developers porting their apps across to GTV, especially some apps that natively should have been on the TV then ported to phone not the other way round.

I suppose, if you search the market, you should find some Music apps for tablets, which will work on GTV. But that's not true for video players - they don't work. That why mine is like a monopoly (yet) (only Plex is cool, but it requires it's server software).

Ok. I have some success with IMediaShare (Airplay for Android phones). I've reported it working with a test build, except of Pause feature (it does not behave correctly according to Airtunes protocol on an iPhone).

Mcd2000- thanks!

This app is developing nicely. Put 0.4 on revue on Friday. Getting smoother each release. Am able to start at a point other than beginning now by clicking on bar along bottom, though it does take upto a few minutes to kick in. Fast forwarding by 30 secs or so works perfectly now.

Some comments in here asking for stuff that would be nice, but I sugest making it the best at what it currently does before you go trying to make it more like xmbc. make it the best video player before you go towards too many options.

Thanks again. Cant wait till this hits a full 1.0 release.

Hey Alexander, I'm still messing around to ensure its not my system, but I've been experiencing failures when tring to play mkv's since the last update. Only symptom is the "wait" hoop spinning indefinitely. I find that if I exit GTVBox and restart it the video will play fine. There are no error messages, so I can't provide anything further. Anyone else notice this?

Yes. There is such issue. But this existed not only in the last update. It sometimes refuses to play a file, but when you go back and try again, it usually plays. I am not sure yet, wether it is a problem with my caching system or with revue. I noticed this only happens with mkv.
There is also a stupid bug in GTV mediaplayer. It does not fire a error event when fails to decode a file. So I can not even put a error message.

Update: Are you using MKV Extended Support feature? I suppose it could be bug in it. If it is, I think I've just fixed it.

Yup, I'm using mkv extended support.
