It was a permission issue. I retyped password and it started working again.

I haven't had much of a chance to use GTVBox, but I was able to play mkv video from HDD connected to USB port on Linksys Router. I do have a few suggestions as nice to have.....

- It would be good to make the GTVBox logo (top left corner of screen) to show drop down menu/options if clicked on. Options in that menu should be :

+ Recent/History - When clicked, this should show Recent\history of media\directories locations recently visited. Along with this, in the normal preferences screen you should have the number locations that should be kept as History.

+ Exit - This option is obvious. To allow user to exit/Terminate GTVBox at any point in the app without first having to go back to "Home" and exit.

- I have been using GTVBox to stream videos from the IceStreams 1.2.1 App. It works, but not always, sometimes the App will just crash, or the video will keep freezing. Part of it could be to do with Internet bandwidth, but also possibly the way the app is caches the video. So if you could possibly look into to see if there is anything you can do to make the streaming from this app more efficient. If you can improve this I can assure you this app will become even more popular.

You can get the Ice Streams app from here -> http://slideme.org/application/ice-stream

Good ideas about exit and history.

As for IceStream, it could not be stable on free rapidshare accounts, because they do not allow seeking after connection failures.
If you will use paid rapidshare account, you could stream in seekable mode which is very stable.

Thanks for the response.

I'm not a premium subscriber of Rapidshare (or any other hosting sites) and from the IceFilms site other hosting sites such as 180uploads, vidhogs, ShareBees, 2shared are more popular. Any way you could optimize streaming through those hosts?

Any chance of getting GTVBox to play WTV files?

This is the format Windows Media Center records in

Even if I could decode the container, according to Wiki, it uses MPEG2 video. So, it will not play on the Revue anyway.

Not much, actually. :-)

New icon.
Quicksearch starts when you start typing. S button is not required any more.
So, you can not use L button to launch Open URL dialog. Use Options menu instead.
Scale modes for LG TV (X button during playback).
Fixed SRT parser crashes with some media servers.
Fixed crashes during playback of some playlists.
Some other bugs/crashes were fixed.

I searched through the posts here page by page (since I couldn't get the search to work for me right) and am still confused. I know Vista and Android, but am a noob about networks. Can you spell out for me (since I can't really figure out exactly what a share name is) how to stream from my videos folder (which is open for anyone on my network to access) on my PC running 32 bit Vista to GTVBox on my Revue? I've tried all kinds of combinations of stuff, and tried creating a workname, and GTVBox detects nothing automatically. I really like the player, especially the diversity of formats it plays, but for the time being I have to put stuff on my thumbdrive and move it back and forth.

edit: I followed some of the stuff I read in this boxee thread. http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t ... #post20200
I created an account in vista and shared permissions with it as co-owner, but still can't quite get things right. I know it's just lack on knowledge on my part, but can't figure out what I'm missing.

EDIT#2:oh, I found it under upnp, not the other one. Was following the documentation. All this time........
However, it only shows the avi videos, not the mkv ones. So I can play mkv files, just not over upnp.

EDIT#3:ok, more google-fu. Windows Media Player is my culprit. I can only see what wmp deams as a playable file, and mkv isn't one. So I guess new codecs from download.com will solve the problem.

Edit#4:And no codec pack is letting my wmp see mkv files. More googling ahead.

Edit#5:Finally found a codec pack that actually works on my windows Media Player. http://www.cccp-project.net/ Now that I can see the in WMP, I can also see them in GTVBox. However, both GTVBox and WMP see only 0 seconds of the file, and I know they're fine, they play great on the KMPlayer. Back to it.

That's it. 3 Hours to fail at what everyone else can do, screw that, guess I'm stuck with using the thumbdrive to watch mkv files. Freaking sucks.
