MPEGTS IPTV player

Post by mcd2000 »

Hi!
I am from Russia. I don't know how its going in other countries, but here some ISPs have (free) IPTV service, which stream unprotected MPEGTS (MPEG2 or H.264).
So, I am developing an IPTV application for Logitech Revue. Video demo is here on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRWCeEpfwXg and alfa version can be downloaded from GTVHacker's dropbox account (GTVBoxIPTV.apk).

Update: unfortunately, the player no longer works on Logitech Revue (should work on Sony units) as it does not support MPEG2 codec and MPEGTS container.

hi
can`t wait to get an update on Revue, and one of the first apps I will install will be Yours.
Do you still actively develop this one, or is it as good as it could be ?

I'm not sure about MPEG2 support in Honeycomb release for now.
I've developed this on the first leak, which supported MPEG2 playback, but the second leak does not.

I still didn`t get the update, but maybe it is already known whether mpeg2 support needed for iptv streaming is supported or not?

The player will no longer work on the official Honeycomb firmware on Logitech Revue. Even if your IPTV stream is encoded H.264. Sorry.
However, It should work on Sony Bluray/TV.

i'm so f***ing angry! :x

I will explore this further. I have lots of TS format recordings from my Dreambox that I would like to play back on the Revue. The Honeycomb upgrade installed yesterday on my Revue.
Either a way to play the TS or to play an extracted MPEG stream from the TS container.

Hi mcd2000

Do you know if your Russian ISP is using DVB-IPTV (SD&S) standar for the metadata?? How the metadata (Channel Ip multicast, EPG..) are discovered?

Thanks for your attention

The do not provide any metadata. Just m3u playlist with channel names and corresponding addresses. EPG is taken from 3rd party sources.
