TV Passthrough not working..

Post by goyk »

This isn't so much a hacking question but I figured someone here might know the solution. I just got a used DirecTV H10 receiver with an HDMI output. When I plug the HDMI straight to the TV or through my receiver, it works just fine.
However when I put it through Revue, I just get a black screen in TV mode. The Revue is plugged straight into the TV.

This isn't a 3.1 problem, it was happening with 2.1 as well.

Any ideas?

It sounds like a problem with the DirecTV stb. Some boxes restrict the number of downstream devices for HDMI to 2.

This Logitech support article talks about the limitation with regard to a Motorola stb: http://revue.logitech.com/digitalhome/a ... leshooting

Yeah, I had a similar problem. Not with a Pioneer receiver, but with:

DirecTV --> Logitech Revue --> Monoprice HDMI Switch --> TV

Didn't work at all. Had to drop the HDMI switch, but that wasn't a problem for me. It's probably a limitation in the DirecTV box which limits the number of repeaters to 1 max, which in our case is the Revue. If you use a Harmony remote, your best bet may be to simply go Revue --HDMI--> TV and additionally Revue --S/PDIF--> Pioneer. Hopefully your TV has more than 1 HDMI (mine is old enough that it doesn't).
