Re: Arduino connections for root procedure?

I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere. Where/how do the wires from the UART1 pins connect to the Arduino? I just got an Arduino Uno and am anxious to try this out. Thanks! That depends on the output for the serial port on your board there... the UART works in 3.3v TTL. The steps to get ro...

Re: Booting off USB drive

the kernel of the "normal" system, is it also signed? The update packages are signed, I don't think the kernel normally is. Looking at http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=HOWTO:_Unpack,_Edit,_and_Re-Pack_Boot_Images , it doesn't look like it is. Is that what you mean by a "no...

Re: Root vs Honeycomb?

This leaves the boot image, which has to match the kernel. I noted you said that the boot image can't be extracted, but you didn't mention the kernel. Has anyone tried rebuilding the kernel? If the kernel cannot be rebuilt either, then you could potentially still install the 3.1 update with a modif...

Re: Decompiling boot.img and recovery.img

Taking a look at the 3.1 update zip, and more specifically the install script, about midway into the install there are the following lines: assert(package_extract_file(logitech_ka5.cefdk, /tmp/cefdk5.img, package_extract_file("recovery.img", "/tmp/recovery.img")); It appears to ...

Re: Decompiling boot.img and recovery.img

It occurs to me, while researching the CE4150, that maybe this is an understated capability of the "Secure Boot" feature of the CE4150. Maybe the CE4150 is decrypting the boot and recovery images on the fly using its built-in RAM. If so, that leaves little exposure for us to actually crack...

Re: Root vs Honeycomb?

Rebuild the 3.1 leak with proper root installed, zip it, and see if you can flash it. Just don't hold me responsible. If we could flash unsigned zips I might be trying to go down this road, but since we can't it would not work. Isn't that what's happening when you flash the pre-rooted updates for 2...

Re: Rooting Logitech Revue

there has to be a way of mounting device to a computer. i think if we did that and just tried every root version available for a 3.1 tab, we might figure something out. or at least shake something loose. i just tried every "one click root" app that i can think of. z4, ginger, universal. n...

Re: Rooting Logitech Revue

Last night I installed the header pins on the Mother Board... that ground plane can sure suck out a lot of heat. That one pin took forever. Turns out the refurbished Revue I got already had the UART turned off. I went ahead and fully updated to the latest firmware and played with the Revue last nig...

Re: Rooting Logitech Revue

What do you mean? How did they exploit the hdmi for the photon? Ok, I found some discussion about this root hack. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1199098 It looks like they rely on a vulnerability in WebTop application... an application that ships with the Photon. Then by running t...
