New Chromecast Root Method incoming - 8/17/2014

We’re happy to announce that fail0verflow, GTVHacker, and Team-Eureka have jointly discovered and exploited a new vulnerability in the Chromecast which allows root access on the current software build (17977) as well as new in box devices ( proof ). This is not a purely software-based exploit; to ta...

Re: full root achieved on nsz-gs7 now!

So, the quick way to get your box back without losing the custom recovery: 1) Download this [Google Link]/ota/sony_beetle/f85aaa961c4e.PKG_REL10_NSZGS7_U2_2203_133772_20130529_URSC.zip 2) Rename it to update.zip 3) Open the zip and delete /system/boot/recovery.img Copy that update.zip to usb, instal...

Re: the new recovery/root

Ok guys - sorry. Wiki was updated, there was a typo

Note the mknod commands, for the sony it should be a block device ,vs a character device, so a "b" vs a "c"

Re: Popups blocker no longer works.

Well, the best I can say (and it's not a good answer) is to wait for Jellybean. It should be the fix-all (at least mostly). Ironically, Chrome is actually an older, fully featured version of your Desktop's Chrome, but crippled and locked down, so it comes off as "basic". However, if you ar...

Re: Asus Cube now available and shipping at Amazon.com

I pre-ordered mine from Newegg. I am hoping to get it early next week. I noticed ASUS has added the Cube to their website finally. It looks as though you can download their code as well. I noticed in the file a bootloader file. So I think gaining root might be easy. Well, the bootloader source code...

Re: Flash Question--

I have an application I would like to use on my Pulse. It however requires flash. Simply installing the flash APK doesn't work because the application does not see it. Is it possible on a rooted system install flash so that other applications can make use of it? Well, generally no. Flash is install...

Re: GTVHacker – A Brief History And a Sneak Peek

Exciting, but I didn't see any mention of the Co-Star. Any word on progress with root? I haven't seen much mention of root for Co-Star at all. This custom recovery (with a few tweaks) should work on the Co-Star fine. It's just easier for me to develop on a Sony, as that's the box that I have wired ...

Re: Pre-installed Apps

So the apk installed just fine and the app works. The only downside is there is no audio. I was able to play my games using my onlive controller so I'm pretty happy. On another note, I installed the app on my sony bluray, and it launched just fine, no force close like I usually see when trying to i...
