Thats odd your system partition doesn't come up RW? Mine does. Replay are you using the symlink? If not you'll need to update manually each time, that'svwhy i did it that way.

Unlike most android devices apparently our beloved GTV does not use a symlink between /etc and /system/etc. AdFree apparently downloads to /system/etc, BUT android actually use /etc/hosts.
