Re: Installing pin headers into UART1?
From what I understand, you really have nothing to lose in upgrading to the leaked builds, right? I suppose you only need to wait a few more weeks for the official release.

Re: Installing pin headers into UART1?
Thanks for your follow-up. I rooted my Revue a few days ago, and that ground pin was a serious pain. I ended up not installing pin headers yet because I'm still waiting for them to arrive, so I decided to try to solder wires directly to the pins. It took forever for me to get the ground pin to take ...

Re: How can you tell if a used Revue is rootable?
Thanks, that's exactly what I needed to know. I just wanted to make sure that my hardware wasn't DOA before I started voiding my warranty.

Re: How can you tell if a used Revue is rootable?
I sort of have a follow-up question to my original question. I bought a brand new Revue and I don't have my USB->TTL device yet (slow shipping from China). Am I correct in assuming that as long as the Revue doesn't receive any OTA updates by not setting up network access, then it will remain rootab...

Re: Installing pin headers into UART1?
The pin that gave me problems was the ground pin. I had a solder sucker, and I don't remember actually clearing it completely. As that was fortunately the only pin that gave me trouble, I just sort of made it work. The pitch was standard, like you may find on most headers. Good luck. Thanks. I orde...

Re: How can you tell if a used Revue is rootable?
I'm actually mostly concerned about being able to watch content from Hulu and other websites, and from what I understand, there's no clean way to watch Hulu on Honeycomb yet, right? I know that there's a workaround that crashes every 15 minutes, but I'd really rather not deal with that.

Any reason to need USB->TTL after initial rooting?
This is sort of a follow-up question to my other thread about installing pin headers into UART1. After the initial rooting of the Revue, is there any other reason to need to hook up the USB->TTL device? If it's only useful to do the initial rooting, then I might not bother installing pin headers and...

Installing pin headers into UART1?
I'm going to be receiving my Revue soon and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on installing pin headers into UART1, like what the pitch is and whether or not it's difficult to suck the existing solder out of the holes. Thanks.
