Re: Google Chromecast Rooted!

Besides blocking dl.google.com in the hosts file or on the router, is there any other way to prevent OTA from installing on a freshly rooter Chromecast? thanks! Be careful! Blocking dl.google.com doesn't seem to effectively prevent the OTA update... The current gtvhacker exploit image is an old bui...

Re: Hisense Pulse Root For Dummies by Yellowmann

Hi! I'm having trouble with the first step after downloading the files and changing the settings on my device. Once I open the command prompt and input (already there C:\users\kim) "cd adt-bundle/sdk/platform-tools" it says that the system cannot find the file specified. I renamed the fol...

Re: OTA Root Survival

Damn...missed the post. I can confirm a no-go with OTA Root Survival. Now that I lost root how the heck do I rename otacerts.zip.old to otacerts.zip - it just won't stick? Do I have to install adb (again) and root again? Too much work for a fake weekend hacker... If you lost root because you upgrad...

Re: Unrooting

What do mean by "unsuccessful"? Are you able to actually rename the otacerts.zip.old file to otacerts.zip? Does it not stick? Or, are you saying it won't update even after the rename?

Re: Hot to get connected with adb

Hello, I just got my Hisense Pulse Box today and went through every step of the instructions (including cutting an opening for the UART header which I intend to have a lot of fun with later...) first on Ubuntu and then on OSX Lion. I got all the way through to the end but alas... no root :| My pref...

Should work on Mac. See adb.zip I linked above. It contains Mac, Linux, and Windows versions.

Re: Hisense Pulse Root For Dummies by Yellowmann

You Rock! Big Thanks. My Pulse is arriving today. Can't wait. Does this have to be a PC? How about a mac? I guess I am also missing on how this file gets to the Pulse? Magic? Flash Drive? Osmosis? Sorry for the dumb questions. This is how (adb push): adb push pulse_root.sh /tmp/pulse_root.sh (enter...

Re: Hot to get connected with adb

You don't need the entire SDK just for adb. You can get it separately from many places, including:
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/sdk/adb.zip

Also, it should be
adb connect <IP_OF_YOUR_GTV>:5555
5555 is the port number.

Anyone still looking for a root exploit in 3.1 official?

Things have been very quiet on the Revue front while the Sony GTV has recently seen some major breakthroughs. Have those most capable of finding a root exploit for Revue 3.1 (zenofex, Dan Rosenberg, others) given up and moved on to something else? If so, I don't blame them, but surely root is possib...

Re: HDMI Video

Not sure what this has to do with the Revue, but you are mistaken. HDMI carries both audio and video. There is no need to run a seperate optical cable to get audio from a device connected by HDMI.
